Registering for Sales Tax in Pakistan through Iris Portal (Online)

Registering for Sales Tax in Pakistan can seem daunting, but it’s easier than you think with the Simplified Sales Tax Registration process! This guide walks you through the steps involved, using the Iris Portal and mobile app for a smooth experience.

Step 1: Gather Your Information

Before you begin, collect the necessary documents:

  • Bank Account Certificate: Issued by your bank in the business name.
  • Business Details: Name, acquisition date, capacity, activity, and branch locations (if applicable).
  • GPS-Tagged Photos: Of your business premises and utilities meters (gas, electricity).
  • Manufacturer (Optional): GPS-tagged photos of machinery and industrial utilities meters.
  • CNIC: For individuals, AOPs, or company members/directors/principal officers.

Step 2: Register Through Iris Portal

  1. Log in with your Iris Portal credentials.
  2. Select “Form 14(1)” (Simplified Sales Tax Registration) from the Registration menu.
  3. Enter the required information:
    • Tax Period
    • Type of Registration (Manufacturer/Non-Manufacturer)
    • Bank Account Details
    • Business Details
    • Utility Registration Numbers and Meter Photos
    • (Optional for Manufacturers): Machinery Photos and Industrial Meter Photos

Step 3: Submit and Get Registered

Once you’ve entered all the information and uploaded documents, click “Submit.” The system will process your application and register you for Sales Tax.

Step 4: Biometric Verification (Within 30 Days)

Visit any NADRA e-Sahulat Center within 30 days for fingerprint verification. Failure to do so will result in your removal from the Sales Tax Active Taxpayer List.

Step 5: Post-Verification (Manufacturers Only)

The Board may conduct additional verification through field offices or authorized third parties. If any discrepancies are found, you’ll have 15 days to submit the missing documents. Non-compliance will lead to removal from the Active Taxpayer List.
