How to Get LESCO Electricity Tax Deduction Certificate in Pakistan (Updated Guide)

If you’re a LESCO customer, here’s how to get your electricity tax deduction certificate online or through your July bill to claim tax credit in Pakistan.

If you are a customer of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and want to claim the withholding tax deducted from your electricity bills while filing your income tax return, you’ll need the LESCO Tax Deduction Certificate, also known as the Certificate of Collection of Tax.

This certificate details the total income tax (WHT) collected from your bills during the previous financial year, and it’s accepted by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) when filing your tax return in IRIS.

There are two ways to get your tax certificate from LESCO — either through the manual method using your July bill or by following the online method through the PITC Web Portal.

Method 1: Through Your July Electricity Bill

Each year, the July bill issued by LESCO contains a summary of the total withholding tax collected from July to June of the previous year.

To use this method:

  • Locate your July LESCO bill.
  • Look for the Tax Deduction Summary or a section labeled something like “Total Income Tax Collected”.
  • Use this bill as documentary evidence while submitting your income tax return.

If you don’t have this bill saved or prefer a digital certificate, the online method is more convenient.

Method 2: Online via PITC Web Bill Portal

The online method is quick, paperless, and can be used to generate an official tax deduction certificate from LESCO at any time. Follow these steps to download lesco tax deduction certificate online:

  1. Visit the PITC Web Portal:
  2. Under the list of electric supply companies, Find Lahore Electric Supply Company and click on “Check Bill”.
  3. Choose between: Reference Number (14 digits) OR Customer ID (10 digits) — often found on the top of your LESCO bill.
  4. If using the Reference Number, you may need to select “U” or “R” based on the last character shown on your physical bill.
  5. Click “Search” to load your electricity bill.
  6. Once your bill appears, click on “Tax Certificate” at the top right of the screen.
  7. A LESCO Tax Deduction Certificate for the last financial year will be generated and displayed.
  8. Download or save the certificate as a PDF for submission in your tax return.

Is This Certificate Valid for FBR?

Yes. The LESCO tax certificate generated from the PITC portal is an official document that can be submitted as part of your tax return. It clearly shows the total income tax withheld on your electricity consumption during the year and is recognized by FBR.

    • Tenants can get the tax deduction certificate with same method as discussed above. Tenant can claim wht on electricity, rent and other transactions as well. However, in case of utility bills in the name of someone else, tenant should have an affidavit with owner on stamp paper that owner will not claim the same taxes in their tax-returns. The affidavit should be kept as record which maybe asked by FBR.
