Islamabad, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted five working groups to implement the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) Transformation Plan. These working groups will focus on various areas, including technology, human resources, anti-smuggling, policy changes, and donor programs.
The working groups will review and finalize specific operational plans for each intervention, suggest improvements, deliberate on implementation modalities, and set timelines for execution. Business Recorder
The first working group will focus on technology-related aspects, including the transformation of PRAL, value chain digitalization, and internal system digitalization.
The second working group will address human resources and operations, including capacity enhancement and the establishment of model tax offices.
The third working group will focus on anti-smuggling, business process reengineering, and customs modernization.
The fourth working group will focus on policy changes, including reviewing and amending relevant laws and regulations.
The fifth working group will focus on donor programs and explore opportunities for external funding and support.
The working groups are expected to complete their deliberations and submit a final implementation plan to the Prime Minister within three days.
The FBR’s Transformation Plan aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the tax administration system. By establishing these working groups, the government hopes to ensure a comprehensive and well-executed implementation of the plan.
