My electricity bill is very high and includes a large income tax component, but since my income is already below the taxable limit, I want to know how to stop the power company from charging it.

You can claim exemption if you are a filer. Make sure your NTN is active.Ensure your status is “Active Taxpayer”.Provide NTN to electricity company. Submit application to: WAPDA / LESCO / MEPCO etc. Attach: NTN certificate, CNIC, Latest income tax return. If tax deducted wrongly, Claim adjustment in your income tax return. It will be adjustable against your final tax liability.
