1️⃣ Gains from open-end mutual funds are classified as Capital Gains under the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
2️⃣ These are subject to withholding tax, usually deducted by the Asset Management Company (AMC) at the time of redemption.
3️⃣ The deducted tax is considered final tax liability, meaning you usually don’t need to pay additional tax on it.
4️⃣ In your income tax return, you must still declare the gains under the “Capital Gains” section for record and compliance.
