I receive only a government pension. Is it mandatory to register for NTN and file a return?

Pension itself is exempt from income tax. It will Taxable only if more than 10 Million.

Because you have no taxable income, you are not legally required to register for an NTN or file tax return.

You may, however, voluntarily register and become a “filer” if you want the benefits (i.e. less withholding tax on banking withdrawal, vehicle registration, property purchase).
