Following is an overview of applicable withholding tax (WHT) rates across various categories under the Income Tax Ordinance, effective from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027.


Withholding Tax on Salary (Section 149)

Salaried individuals are subject to progressive WHT deductions as outlined below, forming the updated salary tax slabs in Pakistan for FY 2026–27.

Note: The Finance Act, 2026 has abolished the 9% surcharge that was previously applicable on taxable income exceeding Rs. 10 million in a tax year.

Advance Tax on Debit & Credit Cards (Section 236Y)

  • 236Y: 5%

Section 236Y has been omitted by Finance Act, 2026 and is no more applicable from July 1, 2026 in Pakistan.


Tax Rates on Pension Income

Super Tax – Corporate & High Net-Worth (Section 4C)

High-income earners and corporations are subject to these progressive rates, where Section 4C super tax provisions impose an additional tax burden. For the Tax Year 2027 and onwards, the tax is applied as follows:
