FBR Prioritizes Tax Recovery Over Public Shaming

Islamabad, Pakistan: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has clarified its stance on dealing with tax evaders, particularly those involved in fraudulent activities like issuing fake invoices.

While the FBR has been actively pursuing and arresting individuals involved in such scams, the agency has decided to prioritize tax recovery over public shaming.

Sources within the FBR have revealed that the primary goal is to recover the outstanding tax dues, including penalties and additional taxes. Once the due amount is recovered, the FBR may not publicly disclose the names of the individuals involved.

This approach is a departure from previous practices, where the names of tax evaders were often publicized. The FBR believes that focusing on tax recovery is more effective in deterring future fraud and ensuring compliance.

By taking decisive action against high-profile individuals and companies, the FBR aims to send a strong message to potential tax evaders. The agency’s efforts to combat tax fraud are expected to contribute to increased tax revenue and strengthen the country’s fiscal position.
