How to Revise a Sales Tax Return on PRA-IRIS Portal?

Sometimes, errors or omissions may occur in a previously filed sales tax return. To correct these mistakes and ensure accurate tax reporting, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) provides a mechanism to revise sales tax returns through the Punjab Revenue Authority’s (PRA) IRIS portal.

Steps to Revise a Sales Tax Return on PRA-IRIS:

  1. Log into PRA-IRIS:
    • Access the PRA-IRIS portal using your registered credentials.
  2. Navigate to the Revision Application:
    • Click on the “Sales Tax” tab on the horizontal menu bar.
    • A vertical drop-down menu will appear.
    • Select “35 (6) Application to Revise Sales Tax Return” from the options.
  3. Create a Draft Revised Return:
    • Before submitting the revision application, create a draft of the revised return.
    • Verify all the details, including sales, purchases, input tax, output tax, and other relevant information.
    • Save the draft for future reference.
  4. Submit the Revision Application:
    • Once you are satisfied with the revised return, submit the application for revision.
    • The system will generate a unique application number for your reference.
  5. Provide Supporting Documentation:
    • Attach any necessary supporting documents, such as revised invoices, receipts, or other relevant paperwork.
  6. Wait for Approval:
    • The tax authorities will review your revision application and supporting documents.
    • If the revision is approved, the system will generate a revised return.
  7. Pay Any Additional Taxes:
    • If the revision results in additional tax liability, you will be required to pay the outstanding amount.

Important Considerations:

  • Accurate Information: Provide accurate and complete information in the revised return.
  • Supporting Documentation: Keep all supporting documents organized and readily available for verification.
  • Consult a Tax Professional: If you encounter any difficulties or have complex tax issues, consult with a tax professional for guidance.

By following these steps and adhering to the guidelines provided by the FBR, you can effectively revise your sales tax return and ensure accurate tax compliance.
