Islamabad, Pakistan – The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has clarified that the Sindh Finance Bill, 2024, does not immediately impose a 15 percent Sindh Sales Tax (SST) on health and education services.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the SRB addressed reports suggesting that the Sindh Government had implemented a 15% SST on hospitals, medical practitioners, and educational institutions. The SRB clarified that while the Finance Bill outlines a standard rate of 15%, the actual rates applied to specific services are determined through separate Gazette notifications.
The SRB confirmed that the Sindh Cabinet has approved a reduced rate of 3% for certain services within the health and education sectors. However, these reduced rates will be formally notified once the Finance Bill becomes an Act of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh. Business Recorder
The Sindh Government remains committed to ensuring accessible and affordable health and education services for all residents of the province. Any tax measures introduced are aimed at supporting sustainable funding for these critical sectors while considering the impact on stakeholders.
