During the court, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials will discuss the importance and legal requirements of installing the Point of Sale (POS) system in mega stores. Additionally, they will address measures to curb illegal cigarette transportation, prohibit stockpiling in shops, and enforce other relevant legal actions.

This initiative aims to provide a direct platform for resolving taxpayers’ issues while promoting compliance and awareness about key tax-related regulations.

Direct Engagement with Tax Authorities
Taxpayers, including business owners and traders, will have a platform to directly interact with senior officials such as Chief Commissioner Yasir Ali and other key commissioners. This offers immediate redressal of tax-related issues, eliminating bureaucratic delays.

Clarity on Point of Sale (POS) Installation
The open court will educate taxpayers on the benefits and requirements of installing Point of Sale (POS) systems in mega stores. These systems ensure real-time tax data integration, enhancing transparency and enabling businesses to comply with legal obligations while reducing audit risks.

Prevention of Illegal Trade Practices
The briefing will also address measures against the illegal transportation of cigarettes and unauthorized stockpiling, helping taxpayers align with legal standards. By curbing such activities, businesses operating within legal boundaries can enjoy a level playing field.

Enhanced Support for Compliance
The online court aims to simplify tax processes, ensuring taxpayers understand legal requirements. This initiative reduces the risk of penalties and fosters voluntary compliance, which could result in lower costs for taxpayers who meet obligations on time.

Access to Modernized Tax Systems
Tax officials will likely highlight the advantages of modern digital systems like POS, which streamline tax collection, improve inventory management, and provide businesses with tools for better financial tracking.

Broader Implications

This initiative represents a dual benefit for the FBR and taxpayers. It builds a cooperative relationship, reducing mistrust and encouraging voluntary compliance, while helping the FBR increase tax collection efficiency and reduce evasion. By addressing concerns in real-time, such sessions also reduce litigation risks and administrative burdens.

The use of accessible platforms like Facebook for participation further ensures inclusivity, allowing even small-scale taxpayers to benefit. In the long run, such measures foster a taxpayer-friendly environment, aligning with Pakistan’s broader tax reforms aimed at boosting revenue collection and economic growth.
