FBR Team Surrounded by Traders During Tax Collection Attempt

Lahore, Pakistan – A team from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) faced opposition and was surrounded by traders while attempting to collect advance tax under the Tajir Dost Scheme in Lahore.

The FBR team was met with resistance from shopkeepers who refused to pay the tax. The traders issued threats to the FBR team and demanded that they leave the market. ARY News

This incident occurred following the issuance of notices to traders in various cities across Pakistan. The Tajir Dost Scheme, aimed at bringing local traders under the tax net, has been met with strong opposition from the business community.

Economist Dr. Khaqan Najeeb noted that a similar tax scheme was proposed during the previous government’s tenure and faced significant resistance from traders. The current government’s attempt to introduce the scheme has raised concerns among the business community.
