FBR’s Technology-Driven Approach Uncovers Rs23.5 Billion in Tax Evasion

Sargodha, Pakistan – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has achieved a significant milestone in combating tax evasion through the use of technology-driven solutions. The Withholding Zone of Regional Tax Office (RTO) Sargodha has successfully identified Rs23.5 billion in unpaid taxes by analyzing existing data and applying innovative electronic tools.

This achievement demonstrates the immense potential of technology in combating tax evasion and enhancing revenue collection. The FBR’s success in Sargodha can be replicated nationwide to boost Pakistan’s tax base and revenue generation.

The FBR’s analysis revealed that 383 registered taxpayers and 7,519 unregistered persons were involved in tax evasion. The estimated additional revenue from these detections amounts to Rs1.4 trillion, representing a 15% increase in current tax collections. Business Recorder
