Lahore, Pakistan: A delegation of traders led by Khalid Pervez met with the President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Kashif Anwar, to express their concerns about the recent changes in the sales tax system introduced in the Finance Act.
The delegation, which included representatives from the Lahore Stationery Association Urdu Bazaar, highlighted that the revised tax rates would significantly impact businesses and lead to increased prices for educational materials. They emphasized that imposing taxes on these items would create an additional financial burden on students and parents, especially in light of the prevailing economic challenges.
The traders expressed their concerns about the potential consequences of these changes, including reduced sales, increased operational costs, and the possibility of businesses being forced to close. They urged the government to reconsider the decision to impose taxes on educational materials and exempt them to alleviate the financial strain on the business community and consumers.
LCCI President Kashif Anwar expressed solidarity with the traders and assured them that the chamber would advocate for their concerns at the highest levels. He emphasized the importance of supporting the business community and providing them with the necessary facilities to contribute to economic growth. Business Recorder
