ByTaxpayers Facing Unnecessary Hardship
The Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has highlighted the issue of taxpayers facing undue difficulties due to delays in updating the Income Tax General Order (ITGO).
ITGO and SIM Blocking
The FBR’s ITGO 01 of 2024 mandated the blocking of SIM cards for non-filers. While this measure aims to improve tax compliance, it has inadvertently affected compliant taxpayers whose names remain on the ITGO list even after filing their returns.
Call for Weekly Updates
To address this issue, the KTBA has urged the FBR to update the ITGO on a weekly basis, mirroring the frequency of updates for the Active Taxpayer List (ATL). This will ensure that the list accurately reflects the tax compliance status of individuals.
