Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cracks Down on Non-Custom Paid Vehicles

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise and Taxation Department has initiated a crackdown on non-custom paid (NCP) vehicles in the Malakand Division and merged tribal districts. The department has identified over 110,000 such vehicles and is taking steps to bring them into the tax net.

The profiling exercise, conducted in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, aims to determine the appropriate custom duty for these vehicles based on their engine capacity. The collected data will be shared with the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) for final determination of duty rates.

Key points of the crackdown:

  • Data Collection: Over 110,000 NCP vehicles identified in Malakand Division and merged districts.
  • Proposed Custom Duties: A tiered system of custom duties based on engine capacity has been proposed.
  • Registration Process: A one-vehicle-per-CNIC policy and bulk registration for dealers have been suggested.
  • Strict Measures: Failure to comply with the new regulations could result in vehicle confiscation.

The provincial government aims to curb tax evasion, improve road safety, and ensure fair competition in the automotive market through this initiative.
