Karachi’s business community has warmly welcomed the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) newly implemented Faceless Customs Assessment (FCA) system, according to Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial. Speaking at a significant event marking International Customs Day 2025 at the Customs House Karachi, Langrial highlighted the transformative potential of this digital initiative in streamlining trade and enhancing revenue collection.
The FCA system, a key component of Pakistan Customs’ modernization efforts, has been instrumental in simplifying and expediting export clearance processes. Langrial emphasized the transparency, efficiency, and convenience that the FCA and Pakistan Single Window (PSW) systems bring to the country’s trade practices. These initiatives, he noted, represent Pakistan’s commitment to aligning with global trade standards, fostering business confidence, and supporting economic growth.
Langrial’s keynote address centered on the World Customs Organization’s 2025 theme, “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity.” He linked this theme to Pakistan Customs’ vision of evolving into a forward-looking institution that meets the challenges of a globalized economy. His remarks underscored the role of innovative solutions in transforming customs operations and boosting economic stability.
As part of the ceremony, Langrial hoisted the national flag and paid tribute to customs officials who lost their lives in the line of duty by laying a wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument and offering Fateha. His gestures symbolized the nation’s gratitude and respect for those who have dedicated themselves to the service of Pakistan.
Collector Customs Enforcement Karachi, Moinuddin Wani, also addressed the attendees, expressing his appreciation for Langrial, Member Customs Operations Junaid Jalil, and other notable participants. He highlighted Pakistan Customs’ achievements in combating smuggling, stabilizing the economy, and facilitating business activities. Wani acknowledged the dedication of customs officials and their pivotal role in fostering a conducive environment for trade and economic development.
Member Customs Operations Junaid Jalil reaffirmed the department’s resolve to fight illicit trade and promote economic stability. He lauded the efforts of customs officials in ensuring the smooth functioning of trade mechanisms and their contribution to the nation’s economic resilience. Jalil expressed confidence in the sustained excellence of the customs workforce in addressing emerging challenges.
The event also featured the distribution of certificates of appreciation to outstanding customs officers, recognizing their exceptional contributions. This gesture reinforced the FBR’s commitment to acknowledging and rewarding excellence within its ranks.
Attended by a diverse group of dignitaries, including Consul Generals of Oman, Indonesia, Kuwait, representatives from Russia and the UAE, senior customs officials, law enforcement representatives, and prominent business leaders, the ceremony was a testament to Pakistan Customs’ central role in facilitating trade and driving economic prosperity. The celebrations highlighted the collaborative efforts of customs authorities, business communities, and international stakeholders in achieving shared goals of efficiency, security, and growth.
