Islamabad, Pakistan: The number of income tax return filers has surpassed 4 million for the tax year 2024, as of October 13.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has received 4.436 million income tax returns, including 1.636 million nil-filers. In the previous tax year, 2023, the total number of return filers was 6.44 million, including 3.49 million nil-filers.

The number of individuals registered for income tax has also increased, with 1,035,922 new registrants from July 2023 to October 13, 2024. Of these, 622,102 filed nil returns.
The FBR’s data indicates a positive trend in tax compliance and suggests that more individuals are becoming aware of their tax obligations.
