Government Strengthens Anti-Smuggling Efforts with Vehicle Confiscation

Islamabad, Pakistan: The government has intensified its anti-smuggling campaign by empowering authorities to confiscate vehicles and other conveyances used in smuggling operations.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed all relevant government bodies, including the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Pakistan Customs, to take strict measures to combat smuggling across the country. FBR

The recent amendment to S.R.O. 1619(I)/2024, which was introduced on October 3, 2024, allows for the immediate confiscation of vehicles involved in smuggling activities, without the option for redemption fines.

This move aims to eliminate smuggling, which has had a negative impact on the nation’s economy. The FBR Chairman has called for immediate action by Customs officials and law enforcement agencies to enforce this amendment and ensure that smuggled goods are seized and removed from circulation.

The government’s efforts to strengthen border security and combat smuggling are crucial for protecting the integrity of Pakistan’s economy and ensuring that those who contribute to illicit activities are held accountable.
