FBR Reconstitutes Committee to Implement Single Portal for Sales Tax Returns

Islamabad, Pakistan: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reconstituted the Single Sales Tax Return (SSTR) Committee to oversee the development and implementation of a single portal for filing sales tax returns across different sectors.

The committee will be responsible for:

  • Developing a single portal for filing sales tax returns by December 2024.
  • Implementing the single portal across all jurisdictions by May 31, 2025.
  • Consulting with stakeholders, including chambers of commerce, trade bodies, taxpayers, field formations of the FBR, and Provincial Revenue Administrations (PRAs).
  • Supervising software development by PRAL and conducting user acceptance testing (UAT) with PRAs and taxpayers.

The committee will be chaired by Ardsher Saleem Tariq, Member (Reforms & Modernization) at the FBR. Zain-ul-Abidin Sahi, Chief (IT Systems) at the FBR, will head the implementation team. Business Recorder
