Islamabad, Pakistan: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has implemented strict regulations on the import of duty-free vehicles by companies operating in the Gwadar Zone.
The FBR has issued the “Import of Vehicles by Gwadar Zone and Free Zone Area Concession Holder and its Operating Companies Rules, 2024” to regulate the import process.
Importers must furnish an undertaking to abide by the conditions laid down in the Pakistan Customs Tariff and pay applicable duties and taxes if they fail to comply. Business Recorder
Vehicle clearance will be handled exclusively by the Collectorate of Customs, Gwadar. Imports from other ports will require a Transshipment Permit for clearance at Gwadar.
Eligible importers must provide details of vehicles intended for use in the construction, development, and operations of the Gwadar Port and Free Zone Area. The Authority will verify the requirement and issue an authorization letter.
The FBR aims to ensure that duty-free vehicles are used solely for the intended purposes and are not diverted for other uses. These regulations are part of the FBR’s efforts to promote transparency and prevent misuse of the duty-free benefits granted to companies operating in the Gwadar Zone.
