FBR Arrests Accused in Sales Tax Fraud Crackdown

Faisalabad, Pakistan: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has arrested five individuals involved in sales tax fraud, including a leading fraudster and four members of top management of beneficiary companies.

The arrests were made in connection with investigations into billions of rupees in sales tax fraud. The accused individuals were involved in creating fake businesses and claiming fake input tax credits.

The FBR’s Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation-Inland Revenue, Hyderabad, arrested the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Purchase Officer of a Lahore-based battery manufacturer for their involvement in sales tax fraud.

In Faisalabad, the Directorate arrested the CFOs of two sister concerns and a leading textile unit for similar offenses. FBR
