Karachi, Pakistan: The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) have urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to defer the requirement for taxpayers to submit an affidavit with Sales Tax Returns.
The business leaders argue that the affidavit requirement places an unfair burden on taxpayers who may not have complete visibility into their suppliers’ compliance. Express Tribune
They believe that verifying suppliers through the FBR system is sufficient and that holding taxpayers responsible for the entire supply chain is illogical.
The KCCI and PTEA have called on the FBR to focus on creating a conducive business environment and avoid measures that could harm legitimate businesses. They emphasized the importance of addressing the issue of delayed refunds and reducing the financial burden on businesses.
