PRA Lowers Threshold for Electronic Invoice Monitoring System

Lahore, Pakistan – The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has lowered the threshold for restaurants required to install an electronic invoice monitoring system.

Under the amended Electronic Invoice Monitoring System Rules 2019, restaurants with an annual revenue of Rs6 million or more will now be obligated to install the system. Previously, the threshold was set at Rs10 million. Business Recorder

The amendment, which was approved by the Punjab government, aims to improve tax yields and prevent manipulation of sales data. By expanding the scope of the system, the PRA hopes to capture a larger portion of the restaurant industry and enhance revenue collection.

The Electronic Invoice Monitoring System collects real-time data from service providers, generating unique digital invoices for each transaction. This data is recorded on the tax authorities’ server, ensuring greater transparency and accountability.

The system has been gradually implemented across Punjab, focusing on various services. With the reduction in the threshold, more restaurants will now be required to comply with the EIMS regulations.
