Officials confirm that action has been initiated against Customs assessing officers, and 45 agents who maintained contact with them despite the faceless system have been suspended. A criminal case has been registered against those found guilty, including private individuals implicated in the scheme. The FBR has formed an investigation team, which has already begun conducting raids to apprehend the remaining accused. In addition, the concerned Customs assessing officer has been suspended, and a formal inquiry under disciplinary rules is underway.

Sources reveal that the operation has uncovered alarming details about misconduct within the system. The faceless assessment system was designed to eliminate direct contact between Customs appraisers, clearing agents, and importers, reducing the risk of manipulation. However, some Customs officers deliberately slowed down consignment clearances to undermine the new system. To facilitate illegal transactions, they created WhatsApp groups where they coordinated with importers and agents.

The FBR’s crackdown highlights its commitment to enforcing transparency and accountability in the Customs clearance process. Further investigations are expected to expose additional layers of corruption within the system.
