Islamabad, Pakistan: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued formal notification to provide legal cover for cash rewards to Inland Revenue (IR) officials, following the Prime Minister’s approval.
Through SRO 1911(I) 2024, amendments have been made to the Inland Revenue Reward Rules, 2021. The move allows the FBR to disburse cash rewards to IR officers, including those serving in the Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue, recognizing their meritorious contributions.
The amendments grant the FBR authority to issue rewards as specified or directed by the Prime Minister. These incentives are intended to acknowledge exceptional services performed by officials, enhancing motivation and efficiency within the department.
The legal basis for these changes derives from provisions in the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, the Sales Tax Act, 1990, the Federal Excise Act, 2005, and the Islamabad Capital Territory (Tax on Services) Ordinance, 2001. Collectively, these legislative frameworks empower the FBR to ensure compliance and operational excellence through such measures.
This step is seen as part of broader efforts to boost morale and reinforce the commitment of Inland Revenue personnel in achieving national revenue targets.
