The industrialists argue that the tax is detrimental to the region’s exports and should be rescinded immediately. They believe that such a tax is counterproductive to efforts to boost exports and reduce reliance on imports.

Ismail Suttar, a prominent industrialist, criticized the BRA for imposing the tax and noted that it is unusual for countries to tax exports. He called for the tax to be imposed on imports or Afghan transit trade instead. Express Tribune

Yakoob Karim, President of the Hub Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighted the challenges faced by industries in Balochistan due to a lack of essential utilities. He warned that the new tax could further burden these industries and force them to consider relocating.

Maqsood Ismail pointed out that over 75% of Balochistan’s revenue is generated by industries located in Hub. He emphasized that imposing new taxes would discourage investment and harm the province’s economy.

The industrialists are urging the Balochistan government to reconsider the decision and prioritize policies that support exports and promote economic growth in the region.
