FBR Developing App to Combat Smuggling at Fuel Stations

Islamabad, Pakistan: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is developing a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based mobile application to curb the sale of smuggled petroleum products at 11,500 fuel stations across Pakistan.

The app will allow the FBR to detect unauthorized petrol pumps and monitor sales data from fuel dispensers. The government is also considering amending the Petroleum Act 1934 to enable stricter enforcement measures against those involved in smuggling. Business Recorder
